President Obama Supporting Iraq's Government - NOT!

An Interesting headline out of CNN for today, June 23, 2014 “Kerry assures Iraqis of U.S. support if they unite against militants” says a lot about President Obama’s support – that there is none.

The headline implies that if ALL fractions in Iraq must come to support the current ISIS Insurgent crisis, which of course will never happen since everything is divided along religious ground, then the President will support them. What is left unsaid is that since they will not unite, he will leave them in the “lurch” and claim that he offered and they refused his help.

This is like the “Standard Of Forces” agreement that he proposed in 2010 before we completely pulled out in 2011 – Iraq would not agree to what was proposed. Now I could not find any document stating exactly what we proposed to the government of Iraq back then, but it was likely, given President Obama’s desire never to support or be held accountable for anything that he already objects to, that we made outrageous demands on Iraq that they any nation would not agree to – or any internal faction – so he could do what he wanted to from the beginning – pull out all US Troops and let Iraq lapse into chaos.

The President is acting very much like PM Neville Chamberlain did in 1938 – only in reverse. Instead of giving away something he does not own without the country who owns the land being involved; President Obama is purposely ensuring that the existing country is destroyed by his inaction.

This President is thus reinforcing the idea that if you are an ally of the US – you are own you own. You have better guarantees being an ally of Russia than the US. At least when Russia say they support a country they actually act and support them within days (think Syria) – not do internal focus group surveys for political impacts,  and then wait months – or years - before deciding they need more time to think about it like this President does.

Goodbye to Iraq as we know it.
