Phone to PC file transfer - Calling and no Answer

It seems that the phone manufactures all want people to e-mail every picture they take - and make it darn near impossible to connect up a PC to a phone to allow file transfer to and from the PC.

 

I have three different phones in the household (each for a different purpose and people) and each one of them do not allow use the standard USB cable for anything other than charging the phone.

 

LG, Samsung, Motorola all talk about sending photos - but ONLY to other phones or their web system - and they of course compress each picture so much as to be un-useable. Got a 6 megapixel phone - great, you get a 240x120 version at the other end after being sent.

 

Not a single web site from those companies even TALKS about how to transfer - or even if it is possible or NOT possible - to copy directly from phone to PC. Nothing about software, nothing about the proprietary cables required, setup, NOTHING.

 

Take all the pictures you want - just never take anything you really want to keep since you'll never be able to save them on your system and back them up ever.
